MAG events on Earth Day at the GEHC

April 16, 2011
11:00 amto3:00 pm

If you haven’t visited the Your House, My House exhibit yet, you need to get yourself in “ger” and move quickly!  Saturday, April 16, 2011, marks the last day at the GEHC to experience this interactive and fun exhibit. Your House, My House allows visitors to take a fantastic journey into homes of people from around the world.  Visitors can step inside a Mongolian herder’s ger, an m’bure from the tropics of Fiji, and a stilt house from a Malaysian fishing village.  The exhibit highlights how culture, climate, and geography impact the types of homes people live in.

As the exhibit draws to a close, there will be numerous special activities on April 16th in connection with the GEHC’s Earth Day Around the World Event from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

The Malaysian Association of Georgia will be on-hand to provide a batik fashion show.  Batik is a decorative way of designing fabric.  Visitors will have not only have the opportunity to see some stunning examples of this type of design but will also be invited to create their own special batik masterpiece!  In addition, the group will demonstrate native Malaysian dances in traditional costumes.

You don’t want to miss this exciting day as the GEHC closes out this wonderful exhibition!  You can obtain additional information about the activities on April 16, 2011, at www.gwinnettEHC.org.
