2009 Dragon Boat Festival September 12, 2009 – Recruiting for rowers now! Join the winning team!
The 14th Annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival will be held at Lake Lanier once again. MAG team has been participating in the event in the past 4 years and has been among the winning teams. Support MAG at Asian Cultural Experience (ACE) on July 25-26, 2009 @ Gwinnett Center
MAG will be participating in this year’s ACE.
We will have a dance performance and batik making demonstration booth. There will also be many other Asian cultural represented in the event.
One of our corporate members – Lina Angel will be selling some authentic Malaysian Batik (web link) selection at the event.

Once again, MAG will be hosting a Malaysia Fest that will showcase the colorful Malaysian culture:
• Special guided tours of South East Asian wildlife at Zoo Atlanta
• Cultural performances
• Arts and crafts vendors
• Demonstration of Malay, Chinese and Indian wedding ceremonies
• Community awards and student scholarships
• Pasar Malam” night bazaar with things to see and buy
• All-you-can-eat Malaysian vegetarian buffet
• Panda feeding – exclusive viewing only for attendees at the 5:30 PM event
• For the first time among all Asian events in Atlanta, this will be a GREEN & earth-friendly event (promoting recycling efforts, minimal use of plastics, and more.)
Time:
10 AM to 5:00 PM: Visit Zoo Atlanta with special guided tours of South East Asian wildlife, Malaysian cultural demonstrations at the Coca-Cola World Studio in Action Resource Center - e.g. batik making, Malay, Indian & Chinese wedding demonstrations.
3:00 – 5:00 PM: Opening Ceremonies with cultural performances at the Coca-Cola World Studio (The Coca Cola World Studio)
5:30– 8:30 PM: Malaysian Vegetarian Dinner Buffet, “Pasar Malam”/Night Bazaar & exclusive viewing of Panda feeding
Price:
Day Access: $16/adult MAG members; $18/non-members; $12/child under 12
(10 AM to 5:30 PM full access to Zoo Atlanta and cultural events until 5 PM)
Night Access: $16/adult MAG members; $18/non-members; $12/child under 12

The MAG dance troupe performed at the APAC annual banquet May 9, 2009 at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel. The banquet featured many Asian cultural performances including an outstanding opening ceremony with a “parade of nations” with each country representatives wearing traditional costumes holding their respective country flag.

On June 6th, the Georgia Asian Pacific Islander Community Coalition will be hosting the 2nd annual Asian American Cancer Awareness Summit to recognize Asian American Cancer Awareness Day. This year’s theme is, “Health Equity and Justice Now.”The half day summit will feature an opening plenary from the Asian Pacific Islander American Health Forum’s Policy Director, Deanna Jang. Ms. Jang will begin the day with a look at the The Blueprint for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Health and Health Care Reform. Questions? The MAG dance troupe will be performing at the APAC annual banquet May 9, 2009 at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel. The banquet which will feature many Asian cultural performances.
Please join the MAG group for the event to show support to our dance troupe! For the attendees, please dress in traditional outfit if possible as the opening ceremony will incorporate a section for “parade of nations” with each country be represented by a few people wearing traditional costumes holding their respective country flag.
